Matador's Everything is Nice webcast
Starting tonight, through Saturday, Matador's band roster will be pounding out the hits we all know and love. The MC is David Cross of Mr. Show fame... how mothafucking cool is that?

Seems one band per night is a required catch:
Mogwai: 9:45p CST Thursday
Chavez: 8:45p CST Friday
Come: 7:30p CST Saturday

Jesux
[from memepool]
This link bears reprinting. It's a Linux distribution for zealots! The actual religious kind.
  • Christian Enlightenment themes, for when the default E16 theme by TigerT is far too Satanic for your virgin mind
  • Added Christian holidays to cal(1) -- last time I checked most of the Christian holidays were already pretty much accepted as standard.
  • Option to disable Sunday logins for the true literalists. No work, no play, go sit in the corner Jimmy, it's Sunday!
  • No encryption provided, because Christians are pure as the snow! BWAHAHAAA... erm, sorry.
  • qmail replaces sendmail as default MTA... because sendmail was coded by a "prominent homosexual"!
  • [old]BSD-ish license requires tacking on John 3:16. Is this a stadium or something?
  • Plans to remove all evil words from the system, like abort(3), kill(1), and daemons.

The end of the page makes me almost believe this is for real. Help me out here... it's almost too damn funny to be true; think it's a h0ax?

Meta: I once saw a goofy initd script that made the boot seq say Satanix [by Microsoft]. For some reason, that wasn't as funny.

Big Panda Internet Comics Listing
Hey hey, with only two comics on the sidebar you might think I am just an average comic dork. But no! I read EVERY SINGLE comic on Big Panda's listing, EVERY DAY! Okay no, but there's some dad-blasted funny stuff in there.

Especially brewed nonsense: Superiosity, the comic with a plot so half baked, the characters wear superhero costumes and you're not sure why!

Meta: Been busy hacking on design work for my dual personality. I need a cohesive layout for apps and portal/bookmark/launching that'll work from work and home. Eventually somewhere over at #shib.net.

Metameta: I just wrote "work from work". That's like, extracting fun from fun.

Concerned Orange Juice Customer
McSweeney's really does have some quality humour. The frightful part of this particular episode is, I actually noticed what the good man is speaking about in the Tropicana commercial. Good thing I got rid of that dadblasted TV thing -- wouldn't want to fall into a daily rigour of nitpicking at ads.

COBOG
Do you know COBOL? Remember that whole schpiel on 9/9/99? (like a program isn't going to use MM/DD/YY... but anyway) -- This is a wondrous ode to fairy tale, written with line numbers.

000095 IF DOOR IS CLOSED OR BEARS ARE GREATER THAN ZERO
000096 ALTER ENTER-GOLDILOCKS TO PROCEED TO HASTY-RETREAT.

OpenBSD-SH4
Welp, if you've been perusing Slashdot with any regularity you would have seen this already. But it's more trustworthy than that whole "Omigod I portscanned it and it's got a telnet port passed through!!!" thread. Cripes... people will believe anything.

Asspennies [realaudio]
This is one of the funniest skits Upright Citizens Brigade has done. I like the performance pieces with large audiences involved better, but the immediacy of this one-on-one "power chat" on the golf course is damn funny.

Supertoys Last All Summer Long
Stolen from countless other weblogs, this story really is worth reading. Twice. Very innovative fiction; the trick really isn't in the twist, it's in the telling of the tale.

After digging in the index, here is the Brian W. Aldiss home page.

Update: Also, Better Morphosis, an oddly relevant little bit of role reversal and obscenity.

Star Wars Conspiracy Theory
Alrighty then, Ars Technica readers! See if you can follow along with this twisty Wyldkard character. Think Lucas planned it like that? I am more scared by the discussions this caused, with people quoting the most absurdly small facts to prove their point. The word "master" isn't capitalized in the SCRIPT, people, SO WHAT?

Useless Use of Cat
The convoluted Solaris stuff I am forced to work on often includes the sort of csh madness that Randall Schwartz pokes at with his Useless Use of Cat award.

Meta: Looks like archival worked. Nift.
